„MILLIE’S SCAR” – THE SCAR OF TIME

"Millie's scar"! And perhaps more precisely - the scar of time - of our time, in which the words "kindness", "humanity", "dignity" are just words from the dictionary. Ours is a time when violence in all its forms and varieties has come out on top of life, and victims fall at the foot, drowning in their own powerlessness and that of a society that has otherwise created all kinds of conventions and organizations for defence and protection of the unjustified. But humanity itself has moved far beyond, for the sole purpose of profit, profit, and profit again! And in this frantic journey to prosperity, everyone is left alone, mostly in the pain, the thing that gives complete freedom to violence to flourish with all its conditions, knowing that there will be no retribution because humanity has only invented pseudo-rules that do not punish but rather guard the abusers. There are many examples and they are neither from today nor from yesterday, nor will they end tomorrow! Indeed, because of misunderstood philanthropy, we care more about the rights of the criminal than his victim. A topic on which much more will be said and written.

That is why I think that the appearance of the novel "Millie's scar" is quite timely. The author Stella Nova presents us with a very real character of a victim of violence, not a static one, but a character who grows page after page. Nearly indifferent to life's problems, Millie, absorbed by the nightmare of violence, becomes a mature person, fighting for human dignity.

The book is breathtaking, the action moves rather quickly, instead of the characteristic extensive descriptions and static. But „Millie's Scar” does not suffer from that. The novel is read in one breath, the images are solid and well-founded, dynamic, have development, characters and types stand out. And though a foreigner, the author has captured and skillfully presents us with the atmosphere of England where the action takes place.

As a debut book, undoubtedly, „Millie's Scar” has its own atmosphere and philosophy. The author raises questions of public importance and, most of all, seeks the answers, something that contemporary literature avoids in most cases.

So, read this book and you will surely find a bit of your own thoughts or experiences, and maybe the answer you have been looking for!
