Millie's scar

After losing her best friend Bella in a car accident, Milly is brutally raped and threatened that she would be a sex slave for life. She runs away from London and seeks salvation in her hometown of Bath, with a wise female friend from childhood. But the threat hangs over both of them. In order not to put her at risk, Milly seeks help from an old suitor, Father Timothy Clark. Having lost faith in the church and homeless, he is forced to live by the rules of the old and harsh Elsa. By accident, Tim is burned to death in a fire, and Milly continues her struggle for survival with the charming Liam, an invalid who lost his leg because of a child's wager. Milly learns that her abusers have killed Daria Easton, a long-time slave of theirs. Shaken by the case, she discovers information that England and Wales are among the leading places in Europe in terms of rapes and she starts searching for a method to reduce the number of such crimes. The book not only illustrates the shortcomings of modern society and their detrimental influence, but the way to solve this problem of mankind as a whole is searched and shown.
